Rooms & Beds
HI Maligne Canyon is perfect for groups of up to 24 who want a sense of adventure with easy access to Jasper. This is a basic facility located across the street from the famous Maligne Canyon and ten minutes from the town of Jasper. There is propane lighting and stoves, potable water for cooking, a gentle stream, hiking nearby and plenty of peace and quiet.
Now that we've explored the area more, I can also say that the hostel is well situated for amazing snowshoeing and winter hiking. I'd go back any day just to snowshoe at nearby Medicine Lake.
The location of this hostel is fantastic - Maligne Canyon itself is very dramatic and only five minutes walk from the hostel, and there are a lot of great woodland and lakeside trails in the area between the hostel the township of Jasper.
We had such a wonderful experience with this lodge. We saw amazing wildlife eg. bears, marmots, pikas, squirrels, deer, and elk. The lodge was simple in its amenities but was clean and well kept. Staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.
