Jasper-Yellowhead Museum and Archives
Take a trip through Jasper’s history, from 10,000 years ago to celebrating 110 years as a national park.
The museum's Historical Gallery features displays on the Indigenous and Métis people of the area, the fur trade, the railway, early tourism and the development of Jasper National Park. You'll have the chance to see Japanese climber Yuko Maki’s ice axe from the first ascent of Mt. Alberta, early explorer David Thompson’s musket balls recovered from Athabasca Pass, the beadwork of Métis embroiderer Suzette Swift and mountain guide Curly Phillips' hand-built canoe.
The museum also has various temporary exhibits at the Showcase Gallery and Alcove Gallery, which vary throughout the year.
At the gift shop, you can find wildlife, history and guide books, as well as handcrafted items, jewelry, toys, unique souvenirs and gifts. Plus, all proceeds from the shop support the museum.
