HI Kananaskis Wilderness Hostel

Kananaskis Country is wedged between Calgary and Banff National Park in the foothills of the Rockies. HI Kananaskis is one of Alberta's nine wilderness hostels, but it has indoor plumbing and electricity so it's a great way to ease yourself into an off-the-grid experience surrounded by nature and adventure.

Located in beautiful Kananaskis Country, this hostel offers a superb setting for groups of up to 41 people who are seeking a rustic wilderness experience with the added perks of sleeping indoors and waking up to hot showers. Enjoy the hostel's outdoor volleyball court, fireplace and fire pit.

Groups Information

Our family likes to book all three private rooms when we stay here and spend the weekend skiing, skating and snowshoeing around Kananaskis Village.

Pretty fabulous for a hostel. Right by Kananaskis Village. We stayed here the night before a long hike/run on the Northover Ridge Loop. Late July is the off-season for this hostel, so it was pretty quiet with a few friendly guests. 

What a great wilderness hostel! Private rooms available. And excellent for groups. This HI location is well managed and well maintained.

My niece had her wedding at this hostel. I have to say I am completely impressed at this place. It was not only clean, but larger than I expected. The pictures in the website do not do it justice. The scenery is breathtaking.
