Here groups find themselves in near private luxury: we have 24 rooms that have only two beds per room. We also have some larger rooms that range from 4 to 8 beds. Located in Edmonton's historic Old Strathcona neighbourhood, HI Edmonton is the spot to be no matter what your group needs and we're happy to help you plan it all.
Old Strathcona Antique Mall
Only 10 minutes from the hostel, the Old Strathcona Antique Mall is the perfect spot to spend a few hours exploring cool vintage items and historical treasures. The first floor has a mix of unique finds, while upstairs you’ll discover a massive collection of vintage toys and vinyl records. It’s a blast from the past!
Churchill Square
Churchill Square is Edmonton's main downtown square, and it is just a short distance from the hostel. It's a lively hub that hosts many festivals and events throughout the year, including the Edmonton International Street Performers Festival, Edmonton Fashion Week, The Works Art & Design Festival, Taste of Edmonton, Cariwest, and Edmonton Pride. Check it out, there's always something happening!
Old Strathcona Farmers Market
Check out Edmonton's original year-round indoor market, just a short trip from the hostel. Open every Saturday from 8 am to 3 pm, it offers a fantastic selection of locally grown and produced goods. It’s the perfect spot to experience the best of Edmonton’s local vendors.
Queen Elizabeth Outdoor Pool
Spend the whole day enjoying Kinsmen Park’s attractions. Along with the pool, you can check out the Kinsmen Sports Centre, Spray Park, Pitch & Putt, children’s playground, sports fields, picnic sites, river valley trails, and the John Walter Museum. There’s something for everyone.
Fort Edmonton Park
Step back in time at Fort Edmonton Park, a heritage park featuring recreated architecture from 1885, 1905, and 1920, complete with a fort and vintage streetcars. Located on 158 acres of beautiful wooded parkland along the River Valley, the park was originally built as a Canada Centennial project in 1967. Admission is $28, and it's open from May to September. Perfect for a day of history and fun!
West Edmonton Mall
Just 40 minutes by bus from the hostel, you’ll find one of Canada’s largest shopping malls! It’s packed with attractions like an indoor water park, mini-golf, an amusement park, restaurants, and so much more. You can easily spend the whole day exploring everything the mall has to offer.
The Art Gallery of Alberta
The Art Gallery of Alberta is a must-visit museum located in the heart of downtown, just steps away from Churchill Square. It features a variety of Canadian and international exhibitions, showcasing incredible art from around the world. Admission is $14, and it’s a great spot for art lovers to explore.
Royal Alberta Museum
The Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) is the largest museum in Western Canada and ranks among the top museums in the country. Its expansive permanent galleries offer engaging exhibits, along with internationally touring features. Located in the heart of downtown, it’s a must-see for museum lovers. Admission is $21.
