How big are the dorm rooms?
Our shared rooms are 4-bed dormitories, with men's and women's washrooms located on each floor, each equipped with 3 toilets and 3 showers. For those seeking more privacy, our private rooms feature double beds, accommodating up to two people. These rooms share men's and women's washrooms, as well as an all-gender washroom on each floor. Additionally, we offer a two-bedroom suite that includes a private bathtub for added comfort. We also have three private rooms with en-suite toilets; however, showers for these rooms are shared.
Are there lockers in the rooms or on the premises?
Each dorm bed features a convenient locker located underneath. While locks are not provided, they are available for purchase at the front desk.
Is luggage and sports gear storage available?
We also offer luggage storage next to the reception for guests who wish to store their belongings before check-in. For long-term storage, we have a larger facility in the basement, perfect for bicycles or extended storage needs.
What will we find in the shared kitchen?
Our fully equipped kitchen is open to all guests, including groups. It features three fridges, six gas stoves, a microwave, kettles, and more. We also provide ample storage space for dry food, along with all the essential pots, pans, dishes, and cutlery to meet your group's needs. While we do not have a freezer, we can accommodate special storage requests for items such as medications or other essentials.
Do you have a BBQ?
We offer an outdoor BBQ for all guests to enjoy on the patio during the summer.
Do you provide bike rentals?
Although we currently do not offer on-site bike rentals, we have partnered with a local bike shop to provide rentals at a discounted rate exclusively for our HI members. Explore all our HI member discounts in Vancouver here.
Do you have a meeting room our group can use?
We have two meeting rooms available for guests. The first room is open to all guests and free to use. The second meeting room is larger and more exclusive, features its own kitchen, and is available to book for an hourly fee. Guests or groups wishing to use this room must book it in advance.
Is catering available?
Catering services are not available at HI Vancouver Downtown. However, our group coordinators will gladly recommend local options to meet your catering needs.
Do you offer free breakfast?
We offer a complimentary continental breakfast, served daily from 7:00 to 9:00 AM in the shared kitchen.
Is there free parking? What about for buses?
Parking near the hostel is not free. We offer 6 outdoor parking spots at $21 per night* and 6 underground parking spots at $26.25 per night*, including taxes. Please note that parking cannot be reserved online and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Buses can park at the public parking nearby.

Is there public transit or a shuttle service nearby?
The nearest public transit bus stop is just a two-minute walk from the hostel, and it’s a 10-minute walk to the nearest train station, Yaletown-Roundhouse Station.
What are your quiet hours?
We respectfully ask guests to keep the noise down between 11 pm and 7 am.
Is there 24-hour check-in and security?
Our front desk is staffed 24 hours a day. Late check-in may be available with prior arrangements.
Is a deposit required?
A 20% percent deposit is required at the time of booking. A 50% percent deposit is required if the reservation involves booking at least 50% percent of the hostel or 50 hostel beds.
What are your cancellation policies?
Cancellations received more than 28 days prior to your arrival date will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 14 to 28 days before check-in forfeit the deposit. Cancellations made 14 days or less before check-in date are non-refundable.
Are there age limits for the groups that stay with you?
There are no age limits for groups that stay with us, however youth groups must be properly chaperoned.
What are the minimum and maximum group sizes?
Groups must consist of at least 10 people, with a maximum group size of 232, and are always subject to availability.
Is there a discount for group bookings?
Groups are generally offered the member rate; however, the rates can be adjusted for your group depending on factors such as group size and time of year.
What health and safety measures are in place at the hostel?

Is there a surcharge for single occupancy?
Dorm rooms are priced per room, based on the total number of beds available. If you choose to leave some beds empty, the full room fee still applies. Private rooms are priced for double occupancy, with no additional surcharge for single occupancy.
