How big are the dorm rooms?
Our room configurations vary and can sleep 2, 4 or 6 people. Shared washrooms are conveniently located in the hallway for easy access. For those looking for more privacy, we also offer private rooms without ensuite bathrooms, as well as family rooms.
Are there lockers in the rooms or on the premises?
Yes! Every dorm room at HI Penticton includes one locker per bed to keep your valuables secure. Guests can bring their own padlock or purchase one at the front desk. Additionally, both dorms and private rooms have keycard access for extra security.
Is luggage and sports gear storage available?
We provide secure luggage storage for guests both before check-in and after check-out. For those traveling with outdoor equipment, free indoor storage for skis, snowboards, and bikes is available during your stay.
What will we find in the shared kitchen?
HI Penticton offers a fully equipped communal kitchen open to all guests, including groups. It features four cooking stations, cooktops, ovens, microwaves, and large fridges. We provide all the cookware, dishes, cutlery, and drinkware—just bring your groceries and enjoy a home-cooked meal.
Do you have a BBQ?
Yes! Guests of our hostel can take advantage of our outdoor BBQ area, perfect for grilling and enjoying meals in the backyard.

While we don’t have a dedicated conference room, groups can reserve our TV room or reading room for meetings and gatherings. A small fee applies for this service.

We don't provide catering services. However, the hostel features a fully equipped kitchen that is open to all guests, including groups. It offers four cooking stations with cooktops, ovens, microwaves, large fridges, and dry food lockers.
Do you offer free breakfast?

Is there public transit or a shuttle service nearby?
Public transit in Penticton is available through the South Okanagan-Similkameen Transit System, with routes connecting key areas of the city. If you're looking for shuttle services, Hoodoo Adventures offer transportation for wine tours and outdoor activities. What are your quiet hours?
We respectfully ask guests to keep the noise down between 11 PM and 7 AM.
Are there gender-inclusive washrooms available?
Each floor has shared men's and women's washrooms. We do not have gender-inclusive showers.
Is there 24-hour check-in and security?
HI Penticton's reception hours are from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Check-in is at 5:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM.
Is a deposit required?
A 20% deposit is required at the time of booking. A 50% deposit is required if the reservation involves booking at least 50% of the hostel or 50 beds.
What are your cancellation policies?
Cancellations made more than 28 days prior to your arrival date will receive a full refund. Cancellations made 28 days or less before check-in will forfeit the deposit. Cancellations made 21 days or less before check-in are non-refundable.
Are there age limits for the groups that stay with you?
There are no age limits for groups staying with us; however, youth groups must be properly chaperoned.
What are the minimum and maximum group sizes?
Groups must consist of at least 10 people. The maximum group size and length of stay may vary depending on the time of year.
Is there a discount for group bookings?
Generally, groups are offered the member rate, though this may vary based on group size and time of year.

Is there a surcharge for single occupancy?
Dorm rooms are priced based on the total number of beds in the room. Even if beds are left empty, the full room fee applies. Private rooms are priced for double occupancy, with no surcharge for single occupancy.
