Groups at HI Vancouver Jericho Beach
HI Vancouver Jericho Beach is a great spot for groups of any size on the go in Vancouver. The hostel is surrounded by parkland next to one of Kitsilano’s favourite beaches, only 20 minutes from downtown and 10 minutes from the University of British Columbia. Grab a bite in the cafe, wander the park trails and then hit the sand or sea.
Why groups love HI Vancouver Jericho Beach
Situated half way between downtown Vancouver and UBC, HI Vancouver Jericho Beach is right there, you know, on Jericho Beach. With acres of playing fields and miles of beach out the front door, groups have room to roam, but still have easy public transportation access to the rest of Vancouver. While the hostel is closed to individual bookings in the winter, it is open to groups and long-term guests.

Our private rooms sleep two, three or four guests each. These room types share washrooms. We also have one private room for two with a full ensuite, and a two-bedroom suite for four people with a washroom and kitchen.
Are there lockers in the rooms or on the premises?
Each dorm room has one locker per bed.
Is luggage and sports gear storage available?
We have storage space available for your luggage before check-in and after check-out. We also have covered bike storage available for guests to use. Please bring your own lock.
What will we find in the shared kitchen?
Our fully equipped kitchen is available for all guests including groups. The kitchen is fully equipped with three fridges, six gas stoves, two microwaves, two toaster ovens, kettles and more. We also have storage space for your dry food and the necessary pots, pans, dishes and cutlery to accommodate your group's needs.
Do you have a BBQ?
We have an outdoor BBQ available for all guests to use.
Do you provide bike rentals?
Yes, we have a few bikes at the hostel for rent and offer bike storage in our covered shed if you bring your own.
Do you have a meeting room our group can use?
We don't have a dedicated meeting room, but groups are able to book our TV room for their exclusive use.
Is catering available?
Yes! We can offer catering through the hostel's on-site restaurant, NSCS Discovery Café.
Do you offer free breakfast?
We do not offer free breakfast, but the on-site NSCS Discovery Café serves breakfast and we'd be happy to add a catering package to your group reservation.
Is there free parking? What about for buses?
Parking lots around the hostel are owned and operated by the Vancouver Park Board. Parking costs $13.75 per day and is payable at the machines in the lots. Limited free street parking is available in the neighbourhood as well.
Is there public transit or a shuttle service nearby?
The nearest public transit bus stop is about a seven to ten-minute walk from the hostel, and connects to the Skytrain (Canada Line to the airport), downtown Vancouver and UBC. For more information, visit translink.ca.
What are your quiet hours?
We respectfully ask guests to keep the noise down between 11 pm and 7 am.
Is there 24-hour check-in and security?
Our front desk is staffed 24 hours a day between May and September. Year-round, staff are on-site during office hours, and an on-call caretaker is available for after-hours emergencies. Late check-in may be available with prior arrangements.
Is a deposit required?
A twenty (20%) percent deposit is required at the time of booking. A fifty (50%) percent deposit is required if reservation involves booking at least fifty (50%) percent of the hostel or fifty (50) hostel beds.
What are your cancellation policies?
Cancellations received more than 28 days prior to your arrival date will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 14 to 28 days before check-in forfeit the deposit. Cancellations made 14 days or less before check-in date are non-refundable.
Are there age limits for the groups that stay with you?
There are no age limits for groups that stay with us, however youth groups must be properly chaperoned.
What are the minimum and maximum group sizes?
Groups must consist of at least 10 people. Our maximum group size is over 200, depending on availability.
Is there a discount for group bookings?
Generally groups are offered the member rate, but this may vary depending on the group size, time of year and each property.
What health and safety measures are in place at the hostel?
All HI Canada hostels comply with health measures imposed by local, provincial and federal regulations. We currently require all guests over the age of 12 to show proof of full Covid-19 vaccination or a negative test result from the past 72 hours. For more information on our hostel safety measures, read our hostel safety measures.
Is there a surcharge for single occupancy?
Dorm rooms are priced by the room based on the total number of beds in the room. If you wish to leave beds empty, you still must pay the full room fee. Some hostels offer discounted private dorm rates at certain times of the year. Private rooms are priced based on double occupancy and there is no single surcharge.
