Marketing Coordinator

Overview

The Marketing Coordinator provides overall support to the marketing department in the implementation of various marketing initiatives related to hostel operations and the HI Canada brand in accordance with the HI Canada mission statement, policies and procedures. They are a self-starter with a passion for travel and a belief in the power of combining data and creativity to drive good marketing.

What you’ll do

  • Contribute data-driven insight and analysis to national marketing initiatives including member relations, community building, promotional campaigns, content, search and social media marketing.
  • Perform website updates and front-end maintenance of hihostels.ca and related sites.
  • Assist the marketing team in analyzing guest data and provide ongoing marketing recommendations and identify opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between hostels and the marketing department by assisting managers and staff with design requests, copywriting needs, website updates and marketing initiatives.
  • Write copy for marketing materials including web copy, signage, promotional copy and more in accordance with established brand guidelines.
  • Research and monitor industry trends and identify opportunities
  • Research advertising opportunities and liaise with new and existing advertising partners
  • Maintain and improve digital asset library including photo and video content
  • Assist in search and social media advertising and influencer campaigns
  • Assist with content and email marketing development and execution, including building and deploying campaigns on Mailchimp
  • Update and create stay-related emails in Dreamweaver using HTML and CSS
  • Collaborate with Content Manager on content marketing initiatives and strategy
  • Monitor website trends with Google Analytics and assist in reporting enhancements

What you bring

  • A curious data-driven mindset and enthusiasm for discovery, learning and new ways of thinking
  • Experience and/or post-secondary education in digital marketing
  • Experience writing for a variety of digital marketing formats
  • Practical knowledge of HTML, CSS and SEO
  • Experience with the systems we use regularly: Mailchimp, Dreamweaver, CraftCMS, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Ad Manager, WordPress, Photoshop/Lightroom, Microsoft O365
  • Experience working with data warehouses and/or CRM systems
  • Basic graphic design skills including photo resizing, editing and optimization
  • Social media and search marketing knowledge
  • Demonstrable ability and desire to learn new systems quickly
  • Proven communication skills (oral and written)
  • Proficiency in conversational French is a must
  • Remote/work from home opportunity, ideally based in ON or QC
  • Previous travel and/or hostelling experience
