The opportunity to grow with HI as Manager in Training (MIT) in our Front Desk Department is available at our HI Vancouver Jericho Beach/Central Reservations location. We offer onsite subsidized staff accommodation if you are wanting to live AND work by the beach this summer.

Reporting to the Assistant Hostel Manager, the Manager in Training is the face of HI for the thousands of travelers that pass through our hostels as they explore Western Canada. In addition to shifts at the Front Desk, the MIT will also cover Night Audit relief shifts and supervisory relief shifts.  You will also assist with administrative duties and other projects as assigned.

•         Check guests in and out, offer them your expert advice and, like any good host, make sure their stay is an enjoyable one.

•         Coordinating group reservations

Review and respond to guest online reviews

•         Supporting and leading the hostel Health & Safety programs

•         Daily room checks

•         Shift and end of day balancing

•         Filling in for desk absences, including the Night Audit Shift

•         Other duties as assigned

We want YOU if you have

•         Prior customer experience, preferably in the Tourism Industry

•         Excellent communication skills

•         Ability to take initiative

•         A flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and stat holidays, as needed

Working with US will include

•         A full-time position for the summer - available May - September, dates flexible

•         The starting wage for this position is $16.72/hourly

•         An annual 4% vacation entitlement

•         Commissions on membership sales
