Human Resources Director

HI Canada - Quebec and Ontario Region is waiting for you to join its team. From accompanying a team passionate about travel to the strategic management of an international brand, there are plenty of challenges. We are a friendly team, and we care about the well-being of our colleagues.

Responsabilities

Under the supervision of the General Manager, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating the execution of human resources strategies for HI Canada - Quebec and Ontario Region. As a generalist, you will be involved in many areas of human resources management including HR policies, staffing, payroll, benefits, occupational health and safety and communications. Your world will be bilingual, and it will be important to familiarize yourself with HR responsibilities in Quebec and Ontario.

Contribute to the association's strategy

  • Build and communicate strategic human resources planning
  • Share expertise on best practices and strategies
  • Participate in strategic meetings and collaborate with various members of the association
  • Coordinate the annual salary structure review process
  • Accompany the directors of the two provinces in their staffing process
  • Coach and train teams on HR obligations and answer questions
  • Provide payroll support and ensure new employees are created in the system
  • Update HR policies, HR processes and HR administrative documents
  • Ensure proper retention of employee records

Promote the HI Canada brand

  • Convey the association's values through communications and decisions
  • Develop initiatives to promote the employer brand and its application
  • Manage the marginal benefits program and do the appropriate follow-ups
  • Ensure compliance with labor standards and pay equity in both Quebec and Ontario
  • Manage recognition programs and participate in team mobilization
  • Measure employee satisfaction and engagement through various surveys
  • Provide support to affiliates on various HR topics
  • Provide relevant training according to needs and context

  • Excellent proficiency of French and English, both written and spoken

  • Good organizational skills and a willingness to learn
  • An interest in the tourism and youth hostel industry

Success factors

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a human resources position
  • An undergraduate degree in human resources or related field
  • Understanding of the concept of confidentiality
  • Keeping abreast of the latest trends and best practices in HR
  • Experience in benefits management
  • CHRP member (an asset)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite 

Work conditions

  • Full time | 40 hours per week | Flexible schedule
  • Start date | August 2021
  • Workplace | Côte-des-Neiges Metro
  • Possibility of remote work from time to time
  • Salary : $58 000 to $63 000 depending on experience
