Reduced Winter Schedule

This winter, many of our hostels will only allow check-ins and check-outs between Thursday and Monday

This spring, we've made the difficult decision to scale back our operating schedule as a result of lower-than-usual demand. Until mid-June, some hostels are operating on a Thursday to Sunday schedule in key destinations. See our opening and closure schedule here.

How it works

When can I stay?

Until May 12th, check-ins can only take place between Thursday and Sunday at HI Banff Alpine Centre, HI Lake Louise Alpine Centre, HI Jasper, HI Fernie and HI Whistler. Check-outs can only take place between Friday and Monday. These hostels will be closed to guests between Monday at check-out and and Thursday at check-in. Beginning June 17th, these hostels will be open seven days a week.

Can I extend my stay or change my booked dates?

Sure! As long as your new dates fit the schedule described above. Please also keep in mind that our regular cancellation policies apply and reservations must be changed or cancelled at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled arrival.

Are you offering any special deals this winter?

We've got lots in the works! We'll have weekend and week-long special rates ready soon. You'll always find the best deals right here at hihostels.ca. Stay tuned, sign up to our newsletter and follow us on Facebook or Instagram.

Which hostels are on a reduced schedule?

HI Whistler, HI Banff Alpine Centre, HI Lake Louise Alpine Centre and HI Jasper are operating on a reduced Thursday to Sunday schedule until mid-June. Please find all opening and closure dates here.

What about groups?

We love 'em. Groups are welcome at all of our hostels, and we can accommodate them at most of our hostels even during a closure period, however we adhere to any applicable rules and regulations on gathering sizes. We also offer our rent-a-hostel option at our wilderness hostels in the Rockies, which is available through the winter. Please reach out and we'll be happy to discuss options.

Are you still taking COVID-19 seriously?

Absolutely. Find out more about how we're keeping you safe. This includes a face mask requirement in shared spaces, reduced capacity, increased cleaning and disinfection and distancing rules. You'll find more detailed information about hostel safety protocols on each hostel's page.
