Eco Impact

Hostelling International Niagara Falls is proud and committed  to becoming as green as we can, step by step. The environment and the earth as a whole is respected and much energy is being placed into working with our planet here in our beautiful, little niagaran abode.

Presently we are using all natural, eco-friendly laundry detergent and cleaning products, (which include; floor cleaner, bathroom cleaner, glass cleaner and dish soap.)

All of our light bulbs are energy efficient and all lights that do not need to stay on overnight are turned off, as well as the day time, minimal lights are used in our sunlit common areas.

Spring and Summer!
...And more for the warm, spring and summer weather! We have bike rentals at the hostel and encourage visitors to take advantage of this alternate way of transportation, and it is a bonus way, of seeing the breath-taking nature in the area! We also sell passes for Niagara Transit and recommend walking routes and hiking paths to get around.

Last, but not least, we have an organic herbs and vegetable garden where guests are welcome to tend and use for cooking! This year 2009 there will also be an attempt to create a successful compost to complete our full recycling system.
